Salsa
La música y el baile de salsa tienen una serie de influencias, incluidos los ritmos de tambores africanos, la música de guitarra española y los bailes de Cuba y Puerto Rico. El baile y la música se unieron en la década de 1970 en Nueva York, cuando inmigrantes cubanos y puertorriqueños, de la mano del dominicano Johnny Pachecó, combinaron el baile y la música de sus países de origen con la moda disco. El término "Salsa" se refiere a una variedad de estilos musicales hispanos: Rhumba, Són Montuno, Guaracha, Mambo, Cha cha cha, Danzón, Són, Guguanco, Cubop, Guajira, Charanga, Cumbia, Plena, Bomba, Festejo, Merengue, entre otros. Muchos de estos han mantenido su individualidad y otros se han mezclado creando "Salsa". Por lo tanto, podemos concluir que ningún país o cultura puede atribuirse el mérito de la existencia de la salsa.
Merengue
Es un estilo de música y danza originado en la República Dominicana a finales del siglo XIX. Originalmente, el Merengue se tocaba con guitarras. Años más tarde, las guitarras fueron sustituidas por el acordeón, cumpliendo con la calabaza y el tambor, estructura de conjunto instrumental típica del Merengue. Este conjunto, con tres instrumentos, representa la síntesis de tres culturas que moldearon la idiosincrasia de la cultura dominicana. La influencia europea está representada por el acordeón, el tambor africano (tambor de dos parches), y los nativos tainos o por la calabaza.
Ballet
El ballet, tal como lo conocemos hoy, comenzó durante el Renacimiento, alrededor del siglo XV en Italia. De hecho, los términos "ballet" y "danza", como en baile de máscaras, provienen del italiano ballare, "danza". Cuando Catalina de Medici de Italia se apoderó del rey francés Enrique II, introdujo los primeros estilos de danza en la vida de la corte en Francia.

CLDA se formó en 2011, cuando nuestra fundadora/directora, Yaya, con años de experiencia como bailarina/coreógrafa, fue invitada a crear algunos bailes folclóricos para organizaciones comunitarias, iglesias y organizaciones sin fines de lucro. Esta experiencia y la necesidad en su comunidad la motivaron, con la ayuda de su junta directiva, a financiar lo que hoy es Cultura Latina Dance Academy Incorporated.

We love it at Cultura Latina Dance Academy! For the past 6 years and a half my now almost 9 year old daughter has been part of this amazing Dance Family and I wouldn’t trade it for the world! She was just 2 years old she she started Mami and Me and is now an amazing almost 9 year old with gained Cultural knowledge and love for her Latina heritage! She is always so proud to say she is a dancer from CLDA and honestly so are we! Best decision ever 👏!
Generally an amazing place with reasonable space to practice and or choreograph dances. Yaya the main dance instructor was very kind and helpful, always made time for us as we neared my sweet 16/ quincenera and did not ever disappoint. There is nothing I would change about this place and highly recommend for any sort of fast and easy choreography. A well deserved 5 stars.
Socially conscious, locally owned and operated, community-based dance learning at its very best everyone! Whether you’re a parent and have kids who want to dance, or you want to take some lessons yourself, this is the place for Latin Social dancing in the North Shore. Classes are ridiculously cheap and the laid-back atmosphere is a lot of fun!

Yaya was amazing! My now wife and I can’t thank her enough for the amazing choreography she came up with for our first dance. After the dance our family and friends and even the DJ came up to us during the night and all told us “best first dance EVER!” We can’t thank Yaya enough!
